Name: r Nolen
Email: walksonclouds@hotmail.com
Age: 56
Country: Missouri, USA
Surgery: BCIR
IBD: Familial Polyps
More Info: I was diagnosed with FAP at 17, had surgery, collectomy, during July, 66, started school 6 weeks later. Had protoscopic checkups every 6 months after first year. After moving 4 times, changing doctors 4 times, each 1 saying I needed to get the rectum removed because the polyps had progress up small intestine beyond sight. This was long before the infamous "scope."
I had an ileostomy in New Orleans, in 80. I endured this travesty for about 5-6 years. I saw Dr. Barnett on some morning show, such as "Good Morning . ." I lived in Jackson, MS, where Dr. Barnett practiced at. I got appointment, had surgery, I was # 169, and have never regretted it!
Dr. Barnett was offered by some group to have a hospital built in Florida for his surgery, and he could hire who he wanted to work there. His words to me, not mine. He moved to Florida. He has passed, oddly enough of colon cancer, but his trainees and followers are probably still at Palisades. If you consider this surgery, perhaps an understudy from Dr. Barnett's Procedure is close enough for you to use.
Dr. Barnett made vast improvements to the Koch pouch. It is great!
