More Info: I am trying to get pregnant with no success. Had colostomy for 6 years now. Any one eles on similar boat , or got any advice or tips for when I do finally conceive.

More Info: For two years I had fecal incontinence due to a very difficult delivery of my child 23 years ago. Over time, my sphincter muscles and nerves weakened resulted in incontinency. I had an unsuccessful sphincter repair and could not go on any longer due to depression of being pretty much homebound. I have my life back thanks to my colostomy. However, I cannot find too much support out there with people that have all their colon and have a fully formed stool. It is difficult because I have to be standing in order to have the stool drop in the bag. That's not always possible, especially on the plane when they tell you you cant get up. I do spray Pam and it helps on occasion. I would love to know somebody out there who has a similiar colostomy. I am truly blessed that I do not have a disease that has caused me to have this and my prayers are always with them. Hoping to hear soon.

More Info: They say that 1 in 3 people will have irritable bowel syndrome at some time in their lives. I just seemed to have it pretty bad. Tied to the bathroom and after numerous tests, I decided to have a colostomy. It took some convincing of the surgeon but finally after many years I had my colostomy, 7wks ago. I love it! Its given me back a normal life. I was lucky enough to have keyhole surgery, so no scar, just the stoma. It can be reversed but I can't imagine I will have that done. I am looking forward to irrigating soon. I would love to hear from anyone.

More Info: I had surgery in April of this year to remove part of my colon - this was a success for two days and then all hell broke loose and I had peritonitus. I thought that was the end of me. After further surgery where I look like I've been attacked with a machette and ended up with a bag. I've gone through every emotion known to man from being really angry with myself to crying, then to thanking God that I'm alive. This can change at anytime lol. I would love to hear from anybody that understands what I am going through.

More Info: Diagnosed with rectal cancer (stage 2) in September 2003 followed by 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. Colostomy surgery was performed November 2003 followed by 4 more months of chemo. Follow-up colonoscopy last week showed some "irritation" that the doctor was concerned about. Lab results not due back till the end of this week.
It's been 6 1/2 months since the colostomy. I cope pretty well, but would be interested in learning more about irrigation.

More Info: I had my colostomy in Sept 2003, and still haven't quite gotten used to it. It appears to be permanent, because when we tried reversal surgery the colon disintegrated.
Having all kinds of problems with skin irritations.
Would love to be in contact with other ostomates. My friends and family don't want to discuss "__it."
Have Yahoo Messenger but haven't taken the time to learn how to use it yet! If you have it maybe that will give me the incentive to learn it!

More Info: I have had Crohns for 29 years. It has caused havock in my life physically as well as mentally. I recently gave up a life pension to return to work. Did I make a mistake! The job became too physical so I quit. I lost the pension and am not entitled to Employment Benefits and can't find another job. No income but I have some monies saved but it will go quick. Having to pay for colo.
