More Info: I never planned this! I had a bowel obstruction and when I woke up from medications used to keep me under while on ventilater (I had a system shut down while on the table), I was shocked, and very depressed. Not only did I have the colostomy but the surgery to remove the adhesions was a SUPER large area of my abdomen, and I thought it'd never heal - that I'd die from an infection at the site. But they put me on a wound Vacuum and sent me home 12/2906 - after 21 days was I happy to see the last of that place! I have been home 7 weeks and that massive wound is now small enough for us to just do wet-to-dry dressings!
My depression about the colostomy is bigger and I worry about my relationship with husband of 29 yrs. It's so UGLY! The scars are bad enough - but what if it comes loose? Yucko! Where do I get more information? I am so worried about losing his affection.

More Info: In February 2005, I gave birth to my son and in May of 2005, I ended up with a colostomy. Go figure. Millions of woman give birth a day and my doctor had to go and cut through my sphincter muscle causing me to end up with a colostomy. I could really use a few people to talk to. No one really understands what I am going through. Hope to hear from someone.

More Info: I had a colostomy in 2001 due to cancer, I had 6 months of chemo and regular check-ups. I have not been given the all clear yet but I try to stay positive. I go to the hospital on the 1st Dec for the results of my bone scan. I look forward to hearing from fellow ostomates

More Info: Recent colostomy due to peritonitis with appx. 5 inches of colon excised in emergency surgery. No symptoms or warning prior to that one attack that resulted in 2 week hospital stay. Has anyone had the same experience? Also has anyone had a reversal and if so can you please give me some info regarding this? Have heard so many stories and I am expecting to get the reversal in 3 months.Would appreciate any info.
