03 Sept 2006 Name: Bobbi Email: crispybird@msn.com Age: 46 Country: Boise, Idaho USA Surgery: Ileostomy IBD: recurrent diverticulitis 4x in 9 mo. More Info: I'm an avid quilter but am a little in the dumps the past few months, but I'm trying. I've had rheumatoid arthritis for 25 years and had been taking prednisone for years, which caused me to split open under the staples. I was on a wound vac and hated it, two pounds my #$%&!!
Hubby & I have been married 20 years, 4 kids and 9 grandkids, our first one was born on my 39th birthday and this year he waited until I felt good enough to have our party - he's 7... he's our "Bogie", they light up our lives
Once my wounds have healed I'll be able to get my reversal but am a little nervous about having more complications. I tapered down my prednisone after I split and am down to 1 mg a day, which doesn't even touch my RA. I have a long wait until I can take my Enbrel and Arava again. I just have to make myself get into my quilting stuff again, I have 6 different projects going on at once so have a variety to pick from.
Looking forward to writing!
15 Aug 2006 Name: Lynn Email: tibbie_01@yahoo.com Age: 29 Country: New York, USA Yahoo: tibbie_01 Surgery: Ileostomy IBD: UC More Info: I was originally diagnosed with UC in 1992. Since then, I've had numerous surgeries which have led up to a permanent ileostomy in March 2004. I don't consider myself all that 'experienced' with UC or with ileostomies, but I know what has worked for me. I'm always willing to share the little I do know and definitely open to learning new things from others.

3 Aug 2006 Name: Judy Email: judy_tracy_ramsey@yahoo.com Age: 41 Country: Pellycity, Alabama, USA Surgery: Ileostomy IBD: Crohns Colitis More Info: I had an ileostomy - 2 in my lifetime. 20 Jun 2006 Name: Kelly Email: craelyward@aol.com Age: 27 More Info: Firstly as a background, I already have one daughter whom I had before ever being diagnosed with UC who is a healthy and happy little girl. Since that time I have been diagnosed and have had several surgeries resulting in me now having a permanent ileostomy as well as my back end removed. My surgeries were in 2000, 2001 and 2005. I recently got married in April 2006 and my husband and I would like to have another child (or at least start to try for one!) towards the end of this year. What has worried me is that last week, in my local newspaper, there was an article about women who have undergone the major surgery for UC having a 50% reduction in fertility! This has caused me to worry slighty about the damage that may have possibly been done whilst being "jostled about" during surgery - I am looking for reassurance and any information anybody could offer me to stop me fretting!

I was first diagnosed my senior year of high school (1999) with Crohns. Within a few days I had to have emergency surgery. I really didn't want the bag, but it was either have it or die at that time. Within 6 months I was reversed. Now It happened again. Again I had to have emergency surgery (march 5, 2006). I have now decided to keep the ileostomy. I don't want to go through any of this anymore. After my surgery my boyfriend of 6 years left me. He said he just couldn't deal with it. If you have anything to help me get through this or any advise about ileostomys please e-mail me.
