Default John's story

I have a neurological condition called neurofibromitosis- one of the effects of my particular case was that my body didn't pass solids like it was supposed to. So I was chronically constipated and just in terrible shpae. I was having pains and my doctor sent me in to have some imaging done to see exactly what was wrong. I couldn't get the imaging fluid down, so he sent me in to the hospital. Turns out I had a toxic megacolon with perforations, and had to have an emergency colostomy. Since I was also malnourished, I ended up having to spend a month in the hospital. I was out of work for a month after THAT on disability, but am doing a lot better now. I've had a lot of great support from friends, coworkers and family. Life has been better- learning to live with a pouch is not one of the easiest things I've done- but things could surely be a LOT worse.
