Chasing My Dream

Immediately after winning the Open Heavyweight trophy, I had to come right back out on stage again while they announced the over-all winner, the man who would be “Mr. Buffalo” for the next year. It was all I could do to squeeze out a couple more poses and stay flexed while they made the announcement. It was very exciting to be on stage just then. I didn’t win the over-all title, the guy who won the Novice Middleweight won the title of Mr. Buffalo, but I was still thrilled to have been a part of this competition! Taking home three trophies, two of them First Place, from the first competition I entered, is an excellent achievement!

None of this would have been possible for me without the help of a few wonderful people. First I want to thank all of my friends on Shaz’s Ostomy website - www.ostomates.org – without their help and encouragement, I would never have gotten up the nerve to enter this contest. Tom Walker & Patty Muse, two good friends who recognized my potential, and helped me realize it! And more than anyone else, my fiancé Peter, (yes, we’re engaged to be married) for putting up with my crabbiness while I was dieting, and giving me a reason to be the best I can be.

Don’t let an ostomy get in the way of your dreams! Don’t limit yourself because of what someone may see, or say, or think about you! Get out there and follow your heart, chase your dreams and achieve them!
