My name is Peggy.
My problems started in 1999 when I had a virul staff bacteria pneumona and infection. By the time EMS got me to the hospital, everything was shutting down, was tubed and in ICU for 8 days not knowing anything.
Then was in Transition for 13 days.
Then May of 1999, had surgery on my neck infusing C3, C4, C5 bones and
I have a steel plate in my neck. Then I started having diarhhea,
went to the hospital 3 different times, was put on prednisone which I was
allergic to, then put on Medit, which helped some.
Then I had diarhhea again so bad I was passing
out. Finally, a specialist was called in and she found that my colon
was so full of infection and ready to burst.
She gave me 12 hours to make the decision
to have the surgery or I wouldn't be here. I did not know what an
ileostomy was. I sure learned quick. It was quite an adjustment and
have had quite a hard time handling it, but, it is better than the alternative.
I have finally adjusted and have the support of my husband.
Thanks, Shaz, for letting me share my story.
...Peggy
